Mormon Heritage Association Inc is an independent, private entity which offers inspiring tours exploring the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; of which, the history of the Bible certainly is a major part.  Tour hosts and tour planners are faithful members and diligent researchers/students of this history and are prepared to present the tours in a respectful and agreeable manner conducive to The Church of Jesus Christ’s teachings, attitudes, and direction.

DAYS 1 & 2

Fly to Rome, Italy

The pilgrimage begins with a flight to Rome, arriving in the morning of day 2 & visit a site on the way to the hotel where we’ll take a little time to clean up before heading to the beautiful, new Rome Temple for an evening session and time to explore the fabulous visitor’s center with its stunning Carrara Marble laser-precise, stunning replicas of Bertel Thorvaldsen’s Christus & the Twelve Apostles.  A great way to start a delightful tour!  (3 nights in Rome)
DAYS 3, 4, 5

Christian Rome, Ancient Rome

Attend Sacrament Meeting with a local ward in Rome.  Spend the next 2 days at sites in & around Rome.  We’ll visit the intriguing underground Catacombs.  Stop at Piazza Navona with Bernini’s famous “Fountain of Rivers” at its center–one of Italy’s most beautiful squares.  Visit the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls.  The present structure stands over the place where Constantine built the first church over Paul’s grave.  Enjoy the Vatican, home to one of the greatest museums in the world.  Enter the immense St Peter’s Basilica and Sistine Chapel to view Michelangelo’s frescoes which have been restored to their full, colorful glory.  Finish the day at the Pantheon, built by Marcus Agrippa during the reign of Augustus (27BC to 14AD).  Emperor Hadrian rebuilt it around 126AD.
Explore the history that winds through the streets and neighborhoods of Rome as in no other city.  Visit ancient Rome at the magnificent Colosseum and Mamertine Prison–where Paul was held prisoner.  From the most sacred hill of ancient Rome, Campidoglio, view the Forum.  See the Circus Maximus, Arch of Titus, famous Baths of Caracalla and Arch of Constantine, the Victor Emanuel Monument.  Climb the graceful Spanish Steps and stop at the famous Trevi Fountain, follow the tradition of tossing a coin over your shoulder to “guarantee” your return visit to this amazing city!
DAY 5 (afternoon)

Embarkation

Say arrivederci Roma (‘til we meet again, Rome!) and transfer to Civitavecchia to board Royal Caribbean’s beautiful Jewel of the Seas for 5pm sailing.
DAY 6

Messina & Taormina

20161001_110709Arrive in Messina, Sicily- a city rich in history and the connecting point of the “Italian Boot.”  In neighboring Taormina, travel by bus to the mountaintop Greek Theater with its spectacular views of the Mediterranean and Mt Etna.  Enjoy a gelato and shopping or simply wander the streets to absorb the delightful culture and catch breathtaking views over the cliffs to the seaside below.  Six-hour guided tour included.
DAY 7

Valletta, Malta

Visit Valletta to see the wonderful Barrakka Gardens, a beautifully landscaped public park.  Savour breathtaking views of the Grand Harbour, after which you will head for St Paul’s Bay to see the possible site of Paul’s shipwreck.  Journey to the medieval walled city of Mdina, called The Silent City due to restrictions imposed on motorized traffic.  Enjoy a visit to the Baroque-style St Paul’s Cathedral which presides impressively over the town.  Enjoy a walk through the narrow streets and lanes of this piece of living history.  Guided tour included.
DAY 8

At Sea

Enjoy the day at your leisure. Join in relevant MHA guide presentations between swims, meals, and naps.

Mykonos, Greece

20161003_13472120161006_104600Morning arrival in Greece.  Have an enchanting day exploring the exceptional beauty and culture of the Greek island of Mykonos with its lovely bays and beaches, its distinctive whitewashed structures, and cobblestone streets.

DAY 10

Santorini, Greece (on own)

20161006_143055Dock at Santorini, one of the most beautiful of the Greek islands.  Its picturesque, whitewashed villages with brilliant blue domes dot the cliffs high above the sparkling Aegean Sea.  The island perches on the edges of a volcano whose eruption 3,500 years ago is thought to have led to the collapse of the Minoan civilization.  The day is yours to enjoy tours, shopping, restaurants, culture, and views galore!

DAY 11

Athens & Corinth, Greece

acropolisThe architectural splendors of the ancient city of Athens are as magical as ever.  View the world-renowned Acropolis, the Propylaea, and the Parthenon.  Climb Mars Hill where Paul debated with the intellectual community of his day.  Walk among the ruins of the agora and center of Athenian public life.  View the Olympic Stadium before traveling to Corinth, the city that inspired Paul’s most familiar letter.  Archaeological museum, market place, temples.  Walk among the ruins and stand on the Bema where Paul stood to defend the gospel.  Full-day guided tour & lunch included.
DAY 12
At Sea
Another day on the sea, at your leisure, to do as you wish, and to enjoy MHA guide presentations.
DAY 13
Naples & Pompeii, Italy
20161009_102656Arrive in Naples, a dazzling city perched on a beautiful rock coast.  Paul landed in the Bay of Naples on his way to Rome.  Journey inland and explore ancient Pompeii, dating almost to the time of Paul.  See the spectacular ruins that were buried 7 meters deep by ash from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius (yes, you’ll see that, too!) in 79AD.  Full-day guided tour (lunch on your own–you’ll want to try Margherita pizza since it was invented here!).
DAY 14
Return home
Early morning docking at Civitavecchia.  Disembark ship and transfer to Rome airport for afternoon flight home.  Arrive home relaxed, refreshed, and rejuvenated!

TERMS:  $800 deposit per person reserves a seat first-come, first-served; balance due May 15, 2019 (130 days prior to departure).  Prices reflect 2% cash discount.  Mail checks to address below.  Credit cards by phone.

Please be advised that all touring & ports are subject to change at the discretion of the cruise line.

Package includes:  Expert MHA & local guide services, SLC group airfare (or generous discount*), Rome lodging & outlined sites & transportation, ship Stateroom cost, port charges, cruise taxes, most meals (a few lunches, 1 dinner, & any airport meals extra), transfers to/from port, shore excursions as listed above (group excursions to 4 of the 6 ports included), personal headsets while touring, & printed materials.
*SLC group airfare flies SLC>Rome>SLC.  Those not needing group airfare must coordinate with MHA/tour schedule.  Air from other cities by request.  Call 801-272-5601 for details.

Not included:  Ship gratuities (estimated at $135 per person), tips to local guides & drivers (total about $90/person), 2 days of optional excursions (Mykonos and Santorini–as you wish; not required to purchase), some lunches (airports, Rome, a few excursion days), 1 Rome dinner, personal expenses (souvenirs, photos, ship WiFi, ship beverage packages, etc).

Cancellation policy:
  “Cruise portion” is 100% covered by optional Travel Protection Program (ask MHA for details) if premium paid by final payment date & reason is insurable.  Otherwise:
Deposit thru January 23, 2019, possible $100* fee to cancel.
January 24 thru March 24, 2019, $300* fee to cancel.
March 25 thru May 21, 2019, $700* fee to cancel.
May 22 thru June 20, 2019, $1200* fee to cancel.
June 21 thru July 20, 2019, 50%* of total trip cost.
July 21 thru Aug 19, 2019, 75%* of total trip cost.
Aug 20 thru departure, 100% of total trip cost.
*Plus single room supplement if your cancellation forces your roommate to a single.
Once purchased, group or individual airfare is non-refundable.  Group air is name-changeable, with restrictions.
Cancellation must be submitted in writing & received by MHA by date listed in above schedule.

FIT to TRAVEL Statement:  Guests accept responsibility for being in good health and able to easily walk distances on uneven ground & stairs without assistance–able to travel on own without aide.  Many sites not accessible to physically challenged.  If in need of oxygen, wheelchairs, or other ambulatory assistance, guests will find the tour extremely limiting in experience.
