We are excited to hear from the valiant youth of today via insightful essays submitted to our contest – PRIZE is ONE SEAT on our JUNE 17-22, 2024 PALMYRA to KIRTLAND tour! Youth 14-19 years old (age as of June 17, 2024) are eligible to submit an original essay, following the instructions, below.
ESSAY INSTRUCTIONS & SUBJECT: Ponder the scripture, “I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.” 3 Nephi 5:13. Examples of successful “disciples in training” are all around us. Read about early members of the Church from the 1800s and your own ancestors’ stories. Write an original essay using examples of at least 1 person from 1800s Church history and 1 from your own family history* – explain how they learned to grow and deepen their discipleship and/or their conversion as they faced life’s challenges of their day. Apply these examples and their experiences to the challenges you are facing today as a “disciple in training.”
*Or include a second 1800s Church history person if you do not have family history examples.
–let’s give these amazing young people a hand and a boost to their testimony and understanding of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
